WHAT UP WITH DAT? QUE PASO?
Whas up wi dat? Que ta loco? Why is it that our president can REFUSE an invitation to appear on Black Entertainment Television, (BET) but SEEK out an appearance, on the popular Spanish network show, Sabado Gigante? Both Bush and Kerry plan an appearance on the Hispanic network and show before the election. Both can speak the Spanish language fluently. Did bush reject BET because he cannot speak ebonics? What does this say about the interest of the Republican party? What does this say about those blacks who think that the Republicans value the black opinion and vote? What does it say about the direction of our country and blacks no longer being the largest minority group?

Well...that pretty much makes it clear. Blacks are simply SOL...but hey...whats new. We need a new apolitical strategy as a people, for the next phase forward. Any ideas?
Do you think that there is an inverse relationship between earning the black vote and losing some white votes, for the Democratic party? What if the Democratic party adopted House Resolution 40(HR 40), in regards to reparations for slave descendants. If they did this, or pushed for something like a national apology for slavery...what effect do you think that such would have on many whites who vote democratic?
Every give requires a get. To get something therefore means that something else must be given up. Whites are still the democratic parties Base. As long as that is the case, I do not see them willing to risk the majority support, to cater to a minority interest.
White americans haven't gotten the anti gay amendment they want, nor the repeal of affrimative action, nor the repeal of Roe V Wade. So what should they do?
You know....sometimes the blessing of something can be a curse as well. Our system of democracy and checks and balances of power can result in stagnation or political gridlock. That means that nothing really changes or gets done due to opposing forces balancing the effort. Its like a car that has lots its breaks rolling down a hill and driver gridlock or indecesion keeps him or her from taking any decisive action. Eventually the vehicle will crash.

Oh Noah, Noah, Noah.
If Bill Clinton, the first Black president can't even give a straight answer on his position on Reparations (per his interview with Atlanta Mayor Bill Campbell's radio show) please, please, please tell me why a single Black person still believes that the Democrats would be willing to kick up some money for Reparations but for the Republican backlash?
I have watched several election cycles and the behavior of the Black Democratic Leaders in Civil Rights clothing in particular. The bottom line is they are never going to pull the tigger, making demands that "Black issues" be brought to the forefront lest their work to bring Black folks to the polls in support of the Democrats will stop.
Just as with the Civil Rights era White liberal politican used to say "NOW IS NOT THE RIGHT TIME" is what they are always told. This election is too important to lose in having you pull such a stunt they are told.
Can you or anyone else tell me "when the right time to leverage the Black vote will be?"
We are now living in the time period where the choice to fuse the Black Civil Rights movement in with the Democratic party is showing clear consequences.
LOL...Renaldo,,, Why would you qoute Noah up to the point where he says "Democratic" and then make the arguement that; "please tell me why a single Black person still believes that the Democrats would be willing to kick up some money for Reparations but for the Republican backlash?"
That was not his arguement, that is you playing partisan politics again, The full qoute is "what effect do you think that such would have on many whites who vote democratic?" This does not say that Democrats would vote for Reparations were it not the potential Republican backlash, it clearly asks what effect do you think a democratic Yes vote on the Bill would have on "WHITES" that vote Democratic. White Democrats for the most part agree with white Republicans on the issue of reparations. One of the not so strange things about that is, white folk across Party lines are opposed to reparations, but the Negro-Cons have no such solidarity with Black folk on this issue, they agree with all the white folk. Strange but true.
